Types of Dog Walking Leashes

The leash is probably the most important “tool” that is used by a dog walker. It can help the dog walker stay in control of a dog (or group of dogs), and there are many different types of dog walking leashes that are available. There is a difference between the different types of leashes, and we’ll try to help explain what the different types of dog walker leashes are for and how they should be properly used.

Chain Leashes

If your dog likes to tug and pull, then a chain leash might be the one for you. The downside of chain leashes is that they can be tough on your hands unless there is a place to grip the leash that is more comfortable. Your dog will also be unlikely to bite this leash since it won’t feel too great on his teeth.

Flexi-leads work great if you are ever taking your dog to the park or an area where it can roam around more freely. However, if you are in a crowded area, then it is probably not the best idea since your dog could get wrapped around someone easier.

Leather Leashes

Leather leashes are a great option because they are easier on your hands. Depending on how far you prefer your dog to be walking away from you will determine how long of a leash that you should purchase.

Nylon Leashes

Nylon leashes can also be very rough on your hands; however, they have a great reputation in holding up in the rough weather, so they will definitely last a long time if that is something you are looking for. You can also find these in a lot of really cool designs and colors.
